Donna was in need of a new kidney. After having dialysis for three years and missing out on a new kidney ten times, she was feeling discouraged. Her husband booked a trip to Sedona from their home in Atlanta and they went to the Chapel of the Holy Cross on the first day. She was moved the moment they stepped into the Chapel. They were overjoyed to discover that there was a Mass that day. They stayed for Mass and lit a three day candle. They both silently prayed for a new kidney.
Twelve hours later, they got a call from her doctor. The hospital had a kidney which was a perfect match, but they had to make it back in 15 hours. While they were very anxious, Donna surrendered to God and felt immediate peace that God would take care of her. They made it to the hospital in Birmingham in 13 and a half hours! Not only did the surgery go smoothly, she felt no pain afterwards. Her kidney is working perfectly 10 months later. She said, "God plucked me out of the Chapel of the Holy Cross and saved me with a new kidney." It just so happens that the three day candle would have gone out the moment the surgery ended.
Due to a medical procedure, the ability to have children was not guaranteed. His mom prayed for a grandchild at the Chapel of the Holy Cross and they found out they were pregnant a month later! Now they have a one and a half year old and are expecting their second daughter in July!
"In 2009, I was diagnosed with terminal colon-rectal cancer and needed to have radiation, chemotherapy prior to surgery. I turned to prayer immediately as I was not going to leave my husband and three children without a wife and mother. After years of surgical procedures, hospitalizations, testing and loads of chemotherapy, in 2013 I planned to stop my treatments to have a quality of life for the time that I had left. After making this decision, I planned a last trip to see my father in Green Valley, Arizona. We decided to take a drive across Arizona to see the sites. Due to a wrong turn, we ended up in front of Chapel Of The Holy Cross. We were in awe of the beauty, so we parked to take a look. When we walked into the church, we were advised that a healing service was about to begin in 10 minutes. Intrigued, my father, my stepmom and I took a seat. There are not any words to explain the feelings and emotions that I experienced that day, but I knew I was healed. I knew when I left there that my decision to stop was the right one, however; my oncologist talked me into one more treatment. Against my better judgement, I agreed. Post this treatment, I ended up in the hospital with very little chance of survival. After two weeks hospitalized, I was released but very weak. I knew then that I hadn't listen to what God had told me in the church that day. God had spoken to me, and I didn't listen. I never had another treatment again. In May of 2023, it will be 10 years since discontinuing treatments and I feel great. There is not a person on this Earth that can take away my belief that I received a Miracle that day in the Chapel of the Holy Cross. When I share my story, that trip is best part! I am hoping to visit again this April for my 10-year reunion."
"In 2016 my best friend and I came to Sedona for vacation. I had been coming to Sedona for about 20 years and wanted to share its beauty with my girlfriend. We went our second day to visit the Chapel. The Chapel is very special to me for so many different reasons, most of all because the Holy Spirit is so powerful. In January of 2014, my dad passed away from Alzheimer's. I was there with him and walked him home to heaven. That day I walked into the Chapel, I sat in the pew and began to pray. The Holy Spirit had touched my heart and I began to cry. As I looked next to me my dad appeared, his hands were folded and he looked at me and smiled. He was standing next to the pew and praying with me. My dad was a devoted Catholic man, he loved the Lord. That was such an amazing gift God had given me. The first was He had me walk my father home to heaven, and the next was having my father pray with me in the Chapel. It will stay with me in my heart forever. I cry every time I think about it. Thank you Lord for blessing me." - Michelle Spain
